Vibe awards, i risultati (e l'affermazione di Mariah Carey)

L'anno scorso in sala vi furono intemperanze, stavolta invece ai "Vibe awards" è filato tutto liscio; grazie anche forse, si dice, al cognac servito gratuitamente per tutta la serata e che ha fatto intorpidire gli animi più irrequieti. A fare incetta di riconoscimenti è stata Mariah Carey, che se si è portata a casa i premi "Artist of the year", "R&B voice of the year", "Best R&B song" per "We belong together" e "Album of the year" per "The emancipation of Mimi", il CD che l'ha rilanciata dopo qualche anno di appannamento. Il filo portante della serata è stato il ricordo della rissa dello scorso anno. Dopo l'assegnazione del terzo premio, i presentatori hanno ad esempio detto: "Hey, abbiamo già dato tre riconoscimenti e ancora nessuno è stato accoltellato". Tra i vincitori è stata notata l'assenza, nella sala californiana, sia di R.Kelly sia di Kanye West. La lista dei premiati dal mensile USA:
